Recently, a document promulgating the list of the 7th National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Architectural Professional Degree was jointly issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHURD) and Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Liu Gong, Vice-President of Huaqiao University (HQU) and Professor in the School of Architecture, was elected as one of the new members of the committee.
The new commission now consists of 34 members, among which 18 are from universities, including the national first-class universities like Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Chongqing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology, etc.
At present, two professors of HQU are serving as the members of the National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education. In addition to Professor Liu Gong, Professor Zheng Xiangmin from College of Tourism is a member of National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Tourism Management Professional Degree.
Liu Gong, a doctoral supervisor and professor in the School of Architecture of HQU, is a national first-level certified architect, a national certified urban planner and a member of the National Education Evaluation Committee for Higher Education in Architecture, a council member of the Architectural Society of China, as well as a member of the China Green Building Council (China GBC). He has completed a number of national-level scientific research programs and characteristic specialty construction projects. He has won the China Architectural Education Award, the 2nd Prize of the National Excellent Planning and Design Awards, and the Excellent Prize in the National Cultural Center Design Competition, etc.
